are international doctors that make 3 tests for the license in the U.S. supposed to do an internship?

I am in medical school in the National Autonomous University in Nicaragua and I am in the career already; and on the listing of the recognized international universities in the Medical Board in California; this university is recognized. But I want to know if I need to do an internship after I pass the three tests that grant me the license to practice medicine.

You can't take the 3rd portion of the USMLE unless you are enrolled in an accredited Residency program (a residency is a 3-5 year training program in a Medical Specialty in the US).

In order to take the first 2 STEPs of the USMLE, contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (www.ecfmg.org). They will certify your eligibility with the USMLE, and inform you of any other testing requirements needed. They will also be your main contact for matching to a Residency program, and will help you get your paperwork in order so that you can obtain a VISA.

The Medical Board in California will require confirmation from the ECFMG that you are eligible before they will grant you a Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter, which will allow you to participate in a Residency program.
