Kubina traded to the Flyers?

Pavel Kubina has been traded to the Flyers for a pair of draft picks.

We do not know what the draft picks are yet.

Thoughts?

Questions:

1. Do you think this is what the Flyers need? Why or why not?

2. The Flyers have now acquired 2 defencemen this week. Do you think they would have still made these deals if Pronger was healthy?

3. What 2 draft picks do you think are appropriate for Pavel Kubina?

4. Would you say Philly is done with their trading? Or do you think they will be more active?

5. The Lightning are clearly sellers, due to their struggles. They finished 5th in the East last season.

What would you say is the biggest reason for the struggles of Tampa Bay?

BQ: Who will be the biggest name traded?

Update 2:

2nd and 4th round picks

    1. This is absolutely what is needed, for the past two years the biggest problem for the Flyers has been the traffic in front of the net, nobody but Kimmo blocks shots, both Kubina and Grossman offer big bodies in front of Bryz who can block shots and clear the front of the net.

    2. I think even if Pronger was healthy at least one of the moves would have been made. Bourdon, Marshall, Lilja and Carle are not enough to have helped push this team over the edge, or bail out the goalies for that matter.

    3. The Flyers gave up a conditional 3rd rounder (2012 or 2013) and a 2012 2nd round pick. They also threw in AHL Forward John Kalinski. I do not think you could of asked for anything else, this works out perfect. With all the young talent the Flyers have, their draft picks, especially 2nd and 3rd rounders are not as necessary. Plus between Grossman and Kubina, most of the draft picks that were traded away were acquired from earlier trades.

    4. After the trade the Flyers are 1.93 mil over the cap, moves are going to have to be made, probably Shelley gets waived, and Marshall down to the minors. That being said JVR probably wont be a Flyer after the deadline, and rumors are JVR, Bob, and another NHL ready player for Nash. Dont know how I feel about it, depends on who that third piece is.

    5. Tampa is just not a deep enough team, and are lacking quality young forwards. The scoring is not enough to help the shortcomings of the goal tending situation down there, which is shaky at times.

BQ: Nash will be traded, and it will be huge regardless if its Philly or Vancouver

    1. Yes, I'll explain in #2

2.Kubina and Grossman can block shots. This is what Bryzgalov had in Phoenix. I think that's the type of defense that the Flyers GM Paul Holmgren is trying to build. Pronger gets injured too easily. I think the trades would have been made regardless, because he'd be out eventually.

    3. Not sure

    4. No, I'm hearing rumors that they're really pushing for Nash. I'd say JvR is going withing the next couple of days. Someone else will be going as well if they're hoping to get Nash. Plus, they have 51 contracts and they can only have 50.

    BQ: Nash

i think of Wade Redden may well be a solid %.. The Ottawa Senators have continually been my famous team, and Redden has been with them for 11 years. Over all those years i've got been in a position to reveal screen him strengthen and get greater advantageous, and that i will permit you be conscious of from long spectating expierience that he might definetly deliver some solid skill and tension to Phili's lineup.
