do what people have been doing since door knobs were invented.
stand behind a door that is open. tie one end of a 5 foot string around your tooth, tie the other end around the knob of the door.
stand 4 feet away.
have someone slam the door.

Just keep on wiggling it and it will eventually get loose enough to come out on its own. Good luck, my fiance' is going through the exact same thing you are!
