how do you make BASH remember a function?

Running mac os 10.6.

I know if I put an alias in ~/.profile, it remembers it. How do I make this work for a function? It doesn't work if I put it in ~/.profile

    if you put something like below in your profile, it should work..

    Source(s): function testfun { echo "test" }

    define it in either file: ~/'username'.profile or ~/.alias
