Manny signs with Oakland?

This move by the A's may sell a few more tickets for curiosity seekers - beginning in June when they are hopelessly in last place - but it also made it easier for the Angels or Rangers to win the AL West.

I think Billy Beane is trying to get people to come out and see the Athletics in early June. He would not sign Manny Ramirez if he wanted 30+ HR's in a season. That's not happening anymore. Manny is a great clubhouse leader, no denying that.

I think the whole purpose of this signing was to bring some media attention to Oakland and to get some fans in the seats.

No clue what Oakland and Billy Ball are doing. They claim they are trying to line up their roster for when they move, but I don't get it. They traded away some good young players. As for Manny, what a joke. He must be desperate and broke. I not only wouldn't want him on my team I think he ought to stay away from MLB. Not exactly the kind of role model I'd want my kids looking up to.

The A's have possibly the worst GM in the MLB. He makes dumb decisions and this is definitely one of them. manny Ramirez is not going to help the A's one bit. All Billy Beane is trying to do is bring attention to his team because the game attendance is embarrassing for a professional team.

Does Charlie Finley own the A's? This is as much as stunt as anything....and as cheap as this club is, the half-million will probably mean dealing some young talent sometime this season.

Dumb move. I doubt he'll be productive at all when he returns from his suspenion. Look for him to become a free agent by August.
