Mayan prediction and Presidential election?
Question: The Mayan calender states the end of the world in December of 2012. The Presidential election is the month before. Looking at the state the United States is in, looking at the economical failures world wide, the Iran's nuclear progress and threats, what is the chance of the prediction coming to be? I believe the world will end as we know it, but humanity will still exist, but a lot of things we take for granted will be gone. Your thoughts?

No it does not. The Mayan calendar states the end of a cycle, not a cataclysmic event.

Number 1 , the Mayan calender does not state that . It is the end of the long count cycle . Hopefully the beginning of an enlightened period and away from greed and excess .

The Mayan calendar ends in December of 2012 because... the Mayans ran out of room on their stone wheel.
Watch Penn & Teller's "2012" - in three parts, about 22 minutes total:

And pack some kleenex - you will be laughing to tears and runny nose...

The Mayan calendar recycles and restarts instead of the world ending. If the world ends I won't complain for obvious reasons.
