Magic the gathering: Question about keywords--help!?

A friend of mine played Thalia, Guardian of Thraben which causes all noncreature spells to cost 1 more to cast. She then played Sol Ring which adds 2 mana to her pool every time she taps it. My question:

Does the Thalia ability still apply to spells if they ONLY cost a tap instead of costing mana+tap?

She said that since you only have to tap it, the 1 extra doesn't apply. I think it still SHOULD apply. Help!!

Abilities are never spells, that's why they are called abilities. /only something like a doom blade or cancel would cost the extra one colorless.

You are both wrong. A creature that taps (like Llanowar Elves for instance) has an activated ability, it is NOT a spell. Spells are normally cards you cast from your hand by paying their mana cost, choosing targets, paying additional costs, and moving it to the stack. Spells can also be cast from exile or the graveyard if you have an ability allowing you to do so.

i could make Explosion Sacrifice one in all your creatures to do tat quantity of harm to objective creature or participant. Plosion Writhe 2BB Artifact Creature--Alien Wizard Explosion--Sacrifice one land and you will sacrifice one in all your creatures and do this harm to objective creature or play. 2/3
