I'm 16 and im seeing my doctor today to talk about a birth control pill?

So my period is never on time. This month, it is over a week late. The last time I had it was the 14th of last month. I also have bad occasional menstrual cramps.Anyways, I will be talking to my pediatrician about the pill. She, nor my mother know that I have had sex. If I tell the doctor, will my mother be aware? Will she tell her? I'm 16.

Update:

And I'm not pregnant, the last time I had sex was during the summer, and I have had periods since then. No symptoms.

First of all, it's actually normal for teens to have irregular periods. In fact, it's also normal to have a shorter (15 to 27 days) or longer (30 to 45 days) than average (28 to 29 days) periods.

Be open and HONEST with your doctor so she can help you decide if hormonal birth control is the answer and which one is best for you.

Your doctor is NOT supposed to repeat ANYTHING you say in the exam room. You should definitely remind your doctor of this.
