I took Celexa and started having panic/anxiety attacks! Anyone else?

I took two Celexa pills (one a day, for two days) because my doctor thought they would help me cope with stress. On the second afternoon, I got to feeling STRANGE. I ended up in the emergency room for (what I thought was) a collapsed lung. I couldn't catch my breath! It was just a panic attack--something I had never experienced before. I never took another pill, but the attacks are almost daily. I'm afraid to treat the panic disorder with another pill!

Sometimes antidepressants can cause symptoms to worsen and can cause you to actually have panic attacks until your body levels out on the medication. Try cutting the pill in half and taking a lower dose to ease yourself into it. But if you do not think this is the right thing for you, then there's always therapy and other natural ways to cope. Talk to your doctor about other options.

I been off and on Celexa for a very long time. I have never decreased my med i just go off them so then i suffer major with panic attack and desperation not to mention depression. I got in to a major meltdown at time. You aren;t really suppot to decrease your meds on your own. So yeah you and probly many other have got those before. I am not sure if it normal or not.
