if you have a restrainging oder do you have to be served papers for a court date?
or can they do it over the phone? my friend got a phone call I guess from this lawer group saying he has a court date and restraining in oder , when they called him they called him at his moms house and just gave the first name of him and not the last name, , they diddnt give any information about the restraing order just that he had one and he has not been serverd and his name is not in the records. there is two things he is thinking one is a scam and the other is someone with the same name he lives in 619 area code and the call was from 832 but to call the number back. and it was from a differnt state.. and a law group, he

I believe he meant "restraining o dour".
Or restraining order.. But that makes absolutely no sense.. Am I right?

It's a scam - you have to be served in person. If your county courthouse has NO record of any court date in his name, then there is no date and he has been scammed or pranked

You CAN'T be served by phone for ANYTHING. You can't be served in person without FULL identification. This is either a scam or a prank.

in order for a restraining order to be active it must be "served and in hand" meaning an officer of the law, or judge, must present you with the order and you must have the opportunity to ask questions about the guidelines of the restrictions.
