Touch screen phone without data plan?
I have Verizon and am wanting to upgrade from an LG enV Touch to a slimmer, lighter touch screen phone, but I don't want a data plan. From what I'm reading, the LG Dare and the LG Versa don't require a data package, but I was wondering what else is out there that doesn't require a data package and that is a thin and lightweight touch screen phone.
Thank you for your help!

You would get a basic phone that don't require a data plan such as the Pantech Hotshot (a touch screen phone). Also, you can read specs & reviews for them at AmazonWireless, the most trusted U.S. store online. Phone price with contract (new, upgrades & add a line) start at a penny or buy a new phone only (no contract changes) at a cheap price. Check them out now.
Verizon cell phones without a data plan required

Pantech Crux (Verizon Wireless)
Pros: Great display
Good camera
capacitive screen
Slim but sturdy
Great call quality
Cons: Nothing so far
Summary: For someone who wanted a more up-to-date touch-screen phone without the required data plan, this is the best I have seen. I was worried because I traded this for a Pantech Jest which had a software bug no one at Verizon recognized as a problem--and I gave up after having 5 of them sent to me in succession! While I don't usually purchase a newly released phone, I've been nothing but happy with this one, even though it took me awhile to learn how to text smoothly, Calls are crystal clear, reception is great, screen is responsive and colorful, and camera even produces pretty good pics. And, best of all, NO DATA PLAN IS REQUIRED!
I have NOT experienced the phone getting warm upon charging or talking while charging as another reviewer noted. The battery holds its charge for at least 3 days if you don't do a lot of texting, about 1.5-2 days if you do. About average, I'd say.
All in all, this is a great phone that performs well and feels good in the hand--perfect for someone who doesn't mind a virtual QWERTY and who doesn't want a data plan.
I, too, wish there was a hard case made for this, but I imagine that if this phone takes off, there will be more than the expensive Body Glove case available soon.
I forgot to mention that the headphone jack is regular size and therefore does not require an adapter--another plus, in my opinion!

The LG Dare and LG Versa have been discontinued by Verizon for quite some time, and would be a step down from the LG enV Touch, because they have a very unresponsive resistive touch screen.
Your best option currently sold by Verizon is the Pantech Hotshot, which is all touchscreen, and uses a much more responsive capacative technology.
