The last contestant was (I, me). Which one is it?

Sorry Im confused! Is it "I" or "me"? (: Thanks!

    The last contestant was I.

    Use the subject pronouns when it renames the subject. Generally, when dealing with sentences that can be flipped around (like this one), the pronoun should work In both directions. In this example, you could correctly say, "I was the last contestant" and "the last contestant was I." It would not be correct if you used "me".

    I was the last contestant. The last contestant was me. I is a subject, whereas me is the object.
