Best video game console ever?

The most successful console ever is the playstation 2 but if you want to buy a current console now, there isn't much to choose between the PS3 or XBOX360 but no console is perfect. If you can afford it, a PC is the best gaming machine.

Definitely the N64. When I was little I would spend hours on it playing Super Mario 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. It is by far the best and possibly most revolutionary consoles ever. I'm actually supposed to be getting a new one soon so I'm very excited to be able to relive my childhood and play all the great games I missed out on.

Nintendo 64 hands down. Why? Games like Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Stadium, Bomberman, Mario Party, Mario Kart.... I could go on. There are so many great games for it, the N64 was waaaay ahead of its time, hell the N64 is one of the big reasons the Wii sells so well (Virtual Console). If you don't like the N64, you don't deserve to call yourself a gamer. PERIOD.

My favorite is Nintendo 64 for the exact same reason as yours, Mario kart 64, super mario 64, donkey kong 64, etc etc etc.... my second favorite is Xbox 360 even though i play PS3 way more (free interwebz) and im starting to get into computer gaming (L4D2 for now =3 <3 that game)

Mine will have to be the Sega Genesis. It was the first game console I played and had one of my favorite game series, which is of coarse Sonic the Hedgehog. My second favorite is the Playstation 2, because I had alot of favorites, like Jak, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank.

Real life and the gamecube...... JK for me it is PS3/XBOX 360. No fanboy wars plz!! Playstation guys like the Playstation and the controller, and Xbox guys prefer Xbox consoles. All my friends play XBOX and that is what i play most of th etime but i give an edge to ps3 because of superior hardware, blueray, and the fact that microsoft makes you pay for everything.

Sega Genesis/Megadrive. While I never actually owned one, I was always over my friend's place playing some pretty awesome games like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Sonic, etc.

N64 simply because Mario 64 literally blew my mind.

a huge library of its own which are plentifull and dirt cheap these days

and it can play all the ps 1 games as well

with this machine you never need another one
