I just upgraded to Win 7. I have 4 gig of ram .?
I run an AMD PhenonX2 processor at 3.0 gig. After upgrading to windows 7 I noticed it is only using 3 gig of the 4 gig of ram I have on board. Is there a reason for this?
I have Windows 7 Home edition 32 Bit. I run dual geforce 9500 gt vid cards with 1 gig of video ram each.

1. What version of Windows 7 did you get? You must get the 64bit version.
2. You must determine if your motherboard has a memory limit.
3. Some memory resources are used by Windows basic operations AND memory is memory, so if there is a 4 Gig limit, Windows will assign memory addresses to devices connected to the PC 1st, then assign system memory with what is left over. Like a 1 Gig Video memory card will take away 1Gig of addresses from the 4 Gig total leaving 3Gig of system memory.

What specific version of Win.7?
Are you using an integrated video (which could be using some of your Ram)?
Where/what is telling you that it's 'using' 3Gb?
That sounds about normal actually. How many programs are you running when you see that?
I've got 4 Gb of Ram in my WIn 7 Pro 32-bit system and Computer properties says 4 Gb installed, 2.92 Gb usable.
