Motivational issues, how to keep that feeling of 'I Can' ?
You always want to say you are going to do the right thing for yourself, and in my case I always fail.
I am a smoker and I am fat. I have tried quitting cigarettes, that lasted about 2 weeks. I even went on a juice fast hoping to change my eating habits. I lasted 10 days, and the first thing I did was go to Denny's and eat a huge breakfast. If anything it made my ability to say no, worse. On top of that, when I went on the fast, I smoked more cigarettes to keep me from eating food.
All in all, I have tried everything and it seems like the only time it works is when I have this rush of motivation. I don't get it often, and when I do it usually only lasts a few hours. On rare occasions it will last a week or 2, and once when I was 16 it lasted 3 months. It mostly happens right before bed, and I can never keep it going when I wake up.
Does anyone know how to keep it? This morning, I had the rush when I was putting on make up and saw my muffin top roll over my pants. I thought "I need to eat right, I need to quit smoking, I know its because I am bored, thats why I do what I do, but I lack the motivation to do something else to keep me distracted" This lasted about an hour, and then on the way to work all I could think about is how I am going to have just one cigarette, and maybe something yummy for breakfast. I stopped myself, but only because I didnt give myself time to go to the store.
I work full time, and have a 2 year old. I get tired, and all I want to do is be comfortable. Smoking and eating make me comfortable. I need to find something else that gives me the same relaxation, but something I can do anywhere, even at work.

I don't have an issue with smoking, but I know how it feels to be overweight, and look at yourself in the mirror and go "Ew, why did I let myself get this way?" and you tell yourself that you're going to eat better, you're going to exercise... but then you don't.
I decided a couple months ago that I did want things to change.. I wanted to be healthier. But I admitted to myself that I can't do it alone.
So I got a membership to a gym with a friend (you can make plans at home too with a work out vid).. and we go 6 days a week and we bust each other's a$$ to work our hardest. I know I would not get up and go to the gym on my own... I go to the gym because I promised my friend I'd be there. The motivation is easier when you don't want to let a friend down. And then when you get there, it almost turns into a competition... who can run the longest.. who can lift the heaviest... who can hold their plank the longest... Ya know? It makes it more fun, and easier to stick with it because you don't want to let them down.
You need to find someone who is just as motivated as you, and you can't flake on each other!
