does a relationship have to be official?? :'(?

idk ..im on this relationship and were like unofficial as a couple i mean were just dating and we do things like what a couple would do ...except sex and the kiss ... its not a fling for sure ...but i cant demand from her anything cos she's not my gf ( officially ) .the prob is last night i kinda got we got this conversation cos she was so busy yesterday that i felt she was cold and im tryin to understand her and all but i got a bit sad so i told her adn i guess we got a little bit of misunderstanding... she said she like me and that im special...she's not one of the girls who talks alot about how they feel if u know what i mean... is this normal or what ??? any opinions would help esp the positive ones
