Help with a Call of Duty beginner stage?
OK.... Here I am. I just purchased an XBOX 360 and the latest Call of Duty. This is the first time I've played COD and I'm just playing the single player campaign mode and not on line yet.
I'm in Africa in Act 1 and I'm almost near the end but I'm stopped dead in my tracks... WTF?
I'm following my team through a heavy mortar barrage and trying to get across this tin roof and keep falling through the roof. There is no other way to run and when I fall and hit the ground none of my weapons work and I get hacked to death by a guy standing over me with a machete.
OK.... I've been stuck here for three days in this one part and I can't figure it out.

Where is the opening compared to the steps? I swear I've looked for another route and the mortars are coming fast.... But I appreciate it and I'll keep looking.

The problem is it won't shoot... Nothing
When you fall through the roof and land none of the buttons work and the RT will not fire the weapon. I've tried to get up and charge the bad guy but the same result every time. The guy just hacks me to death.
I'm going to look for this alternative passage between the buildings before I choose best answer. I was trying to avoid restarting the whole mission. It's a long mission and I'm at the very end of it and will probably end up in the same situation again.

There is no other route and you can't shoot. Timing is everything. When you fall through the roof the guy with the knife will expose a knife on his belt. You must take it from him and kill him with his own knife.

Just shoot? Press the RT button and it should just shoot. Or just press the right stick (melee button). And this part of the game is scripted so there's no way to avoid it. If you still can't do anything then restart the mission.
