1) A delivery truck travels 25 blocks north, 25 blocks west and 24 blocks south. What is its final displacement from the origin? Assume the blocks are equal length.

Magnitude

_____ blocks

Direction

_______ ° (counterclockwise from east is positive)

2) You are given a vector in the xy plane that has a magnitude of 100.0 units and a y component of -60.0 units. What are the two possibilities for its x component?

_____

______

3) A diver running 1.7 m/s dives out horizontally from the edge of a vertical cliff and 3.4 s later reaches the water below.

How high was the cliff?

_____ m

How far from its base did the diver hit the water?

_____ m

4) An athlete executing a long jump leaves the ground at a 25° angle and travels 8.30 m.

(a) What was the takeoff speed?

____ m/s

(b) If this speed were increased by just 5.0%, how much longer would the jump be?

___ m

5) A hunter aims directly at a target (on the same level) 120 m away.

(a) If the bullet leaves the gun at a speed of 230 m/s, by how much will it miss the target?

I normally don't answer a set of questions... so to remain normal :>)

    I will do # 2 (only).

Components must be at right angles, therefore in a diagram, the magnitude of 100 units is the hypotenuse side of the right triangle vector triangle. Thus:

    √[100² - 60²] = ±80 units = x-component/s ANS*

*comment: the negative sign of the -60 units component is NOT related to the subtraction process under the radical.

    Acceleration = stress / mass. velocity = acceleration * time. ability = stress * velocity #a million assume uniform stress at each and every section. interior the blocks, the acceleration = 5/0.2 = 20m/s² stress = 20*70 = a million,400N Out of the blocks, acceleration = (12-5)/5 = 7/5m/s² stress = 7/5*70 = 98N commonplace ability = ninety 8*(12+5)/2 = 833W #2 Conservation of capability. assume gravity = 10 m/s² (you need to use 9.80 one in case you like and you have a calculator) ability capability at 100m relative to the floor = 10 * a hundred * 3 = 3,000J ability capability at 50m = a million,500J Kinetic capability at 50m = a million,500J you may calculate its velocity from this: 31.6 m/s
