I am new to face book, do they charge you for playing the games?

I am already hooked on Wild West Town! I know you can BUY more gold, but I'm trying to work around that.

Social media games don't (usually) directly charge players. They are based on microtransactions- purchasing the small amounts of gold or coins or potions or whatever "special" currency the particular game uses. They do this in a number of ways- using timers to limit play (purchase more with real money), speeding up or requiring purchase of the "sepcial" currency for items, etc. They also want as many people to think about the microtransactions, which is why there's usually "you need X friends to do this" and "Post this to your wall to share with friends!"

There are often ways to do this for free, via indirect ad revenue. Usually on the "buy our currency" page, there's often an affiliate network- "Sign up for Netflix and get 133 space crystals!" or "Sign up for SurveyMonkey and get 22 golden horseshoes!" or whatever. It's still giving them money (via referral rewards) but doesn't cost you anything up front.

It's still a horribly annoying business method to support, though.

Depends on the game for the most part but most are free to start & play with the basics then optional to purchase more/better bells & whistles. Just be sure & read everything before playing & you'll be safe.

They charge your bank account $0.10 for every 10 minutes you play a game. That's how they make money. That's also why so many people are concerned about privacy stuff from Facebook, because they have access to your bank account! It's really scary that they can do that, I think.

They do not charge you whatsoever. Most to all games do however have add-ons or better enhancements that will cost you money if purchased.

No, facebook doesn't charge you for anything. If you want to buy something yourself on the game then that is your choice and it's optional, but you don't have to. You can play all games for completely free if you want to. Buying extra stuff is optional and is up to you.

    Answer mine? :)
