Can Guinea Pigs See In The Dark?
like a completely dark room with no light in it?
@michelle- yeah you're sooo hilarious... I just want to know if my guinea pigs will be okay with staying in my basement for a couple of days or if I will have to keep a light on for them the whole time, but thanks so much for being a smartass about it.
@answerer- okay thanks for the info, I wasn't sure if guinea pigs were nocturnal or not. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that they don't have problems in the dark.

Technically speaking, guinea pigs are nocturnal, so yes, they can see in the dark. When we had them as pets, they were usually awake about half in the daytime and half at nighttime. We would hear them running around and playing when we got up in the middle of the night. They are perfectly content to be in the dark or the light.

just like most humans, guinea pigs want it to be bright out in the day, and dark at night, shut it off when your going to sleep because they'll go to sleep when you do.

yup and they prefer the dark being nocturnal which is why they make their cute squeeky noises a lot at night.
