Your uterus has to contract, which means your cervix dilates (expands) A woman has to be 10 centimeters dilated before she can push the baby out. Sometimes doctors will feel the need to cut the vagina if he/she thinks the woman is going to rip open. Although some women do rip. If they get cut open, they get stitched right back up. There is also a thing called a C-section, where the doctor performs surgery on your stomache. They make an incision in your lower stomache and get the baby out that way. You sound pretty young, this is something you should talk with your parents about.
