"Yellow is Fred's favorite color," Mother had said. But she didn't want Fred. She wanted Alexander. And his favorite color was blue. She had known it since that fateful day in the 4th grade, when he told her she had the most beautiful eyes in the world because they were the exact shade of blue he thought was perfect, but hadn't found anywhere else.
