what are examples of subcultures?

ever see the movie "the breakfast club" there was the jock, the brain, the rebel, the princess (Also the basket case but that is not really a subculture) the modern variations include like emo, in the late 70s early 80s there were punks (which also came back in the mid 90s for a while)that is assuming you are talking about youth subculture, I suppose it could also mean like a religious or ethnic group with a larger group.

Examples of subcultures past and present include Goths, Metal heads, hippies, hipsters, Emo - things like that. A subculture is pretty much any group of people that do not precisely conform with the larger culture in which they live but instead conform to their own group. Hence the highly theatrical and artistic cosmetics of the goth crowd, the "ironic" ugly sweaters of the hipsters and the metal heads and their occasionally rowdy behavior interspersed with bouts of "I'm too cool to talk even to myself" behavior.
