My friend gave me his iPod Nano and it's not working?

My friend gave me his old green iPod Nano model a1199 yesterday, and when I plug it in to put my music on it, the computer doesn't recognize it. I'm pretty sure it needs the drivers for it but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone find them for me? x

    I will try first holding the play and the metter button then the apple will come then then try to restore it by going to the iPod the click restore and then it will to update your iPod to I hope that helps

    Have you downloaded the latest version of iTunes? I would start there if you haven't.
