How come guys dont want a real nice girl that cares about them? they want a popular self absorbed girl?

I was dating my friend. We were like best friends. I cared about him SO much! I really was very affectionate with him and wanted to be there for him and everything. I really truly cared. It was such a cute fling. We cuddled all the time, and would sleep together every night without sex, just spooning and being all close. It was amazing. We really clicked as people. We got eachother and were very into eachother it seemed like. Everything seemed to be going very well. However, then he acts kind of distant all the sudden. On facebook chat one night I tell him that its just getting too awkard and we never talk about what we are doing. He says im not a "genuine nice girl" and that he wants feelings for a nice girl. Then he says we have nothing in common and he didnt understand why i had feelings for him. (He then said i was the first girl to actually like him back like that)

Then he never speaks to me again. I try to get him to come see me, but he makes excuses not to see me. He ends up spending time with these two girls that are so so mean. They are gossipy and rude and stuck up bitches. One of them is this incredibly slutty girl, and the other is this dumb blonde cheerleader.

He tries to go after the cheerleader. Why? How come he didnt want me? We were so good together! He and this girl have nothing in common and are complete opposites!
