Montoya is not a moron. If you had paid attention to the sound section of the race coverage, you would have heard one of the announcers state that his steering gear broke. He had no control over the car at that point. Thank God he and the driver of the dryer truck escaped without serious injury. Apparently, you have never had a malfunction in a street vehicle, like a blowout or losing your power steering. These cars are traveling at close to 200 MPH. You must be a terrific driver to second-guess a NASCAR driver.

The transmission broke on his car, while he was coming around to catch the field & he skidded into the jet dryer. He didn't drive into it.

On his last pit stop there was a problem with his car, he was trying to catch back up with the field and it snapped. It wasn't Juan's fault. Seriously do you think anyone wants to drive into a jet fueled jet engine on the back of a huge truck that is blowing the track off?

The car malfunctioned, hence the wreck. Can your grandmother drive at 200mph, inches away from other cars going the same speed, for hours? If she can, she's got my respect!

Because he hit water on the track and lost control... The people saying he broke something, need to look at the replay, it clearly shows a rooster tail of water, just as his back end broke free... The only thing that got hurt was his mexican ego...

There were vibrations in the gears, the car started sparking, the transmission and steering gave out and the car spun. It was a freak accident! Thank God nobody was hurt.

Broken transmission/rear-end gear caused him to lose control and the jet dryer was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
