Can I buy train tickets the day of?

Going to NYC thursday from NJ.

Do I have to make any sort of in-advance plan to getting train tickets...? Or can I just show up and get a ticket at the last second with no problem.

My friend, since your coming from the Garden State, you're taking NJ Transit, which is a commuter railroad. This means you can just show up at the train station nearest to you purchase your ticket and board the next train bound for New York City.

There is no need to make a reservation, you're not riding Amtrak.

    Good luck

Yes, you can buy the tickets the day of. You can buy them from a machine or ticket agent, but make sure you allow some time to buy the tickets. You can buy them on the train, but there's a $5 surcharge.

I hope this information was very helpful.

NJ Transit doesn't have any advance purchase discounts. Just be sure to arrive at the station a few minutes ahead so you have time to buy your tickets from the machine.
