Here's a simple tipping formula that requires no complex math and nets at least a 20% tip on any check.

Start with 10% of the amount of the check (just move the decimal point one digit to the left), round that value up to the nearest dollar, and multiply by two. If you're feeling less generous, start with 10%, round up, and add another half of the result to get about 15%.

    For your example, to get about 20%: Check $30, 10% = $3, times two = $6.

To get about 15%: 10% = $3, half of that is $1.50, total is $4.50.

Unless you often have restaurant bills over $100, the most complicated math you'll need to do is multiplying a single digit number by two to calculate a 20% tip. If your bills do go over $100, then you have to multiply a two digit number by two. If you can afford restaurant checks like that, you probably have good enough math skills to figure out a tip anyway.

Since the usual tip is about 15%, u should break it down like so: 10% of 30 equals 3, and half of 3 is $1.50. So the lowest tip u should give is $4.50

I don't automatically tip a certain percentage based on the dollar amount, before tax, it would depend on the service I received, but usually 15% +.

    I recommend you tip $6.

To your question: I would tip $10. That's because I learned years ago that Christians have a bad rep in the resteraunt business for undertipping. Once I learned that info, I wanted to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. So, since I can afford it, I went from tipping 15% of the tab to always $10 or 20%, whichever is higher.

I usually leave a minimum of 15%, plus a bonus if the service was above average.

    Nothing.
