17 year old car insurance question?
Okay. I'm gonna be getting my license in a few m
onths (took driver's ed late) and I moved in with my grandparents this past summer when my family and I moved so I could stay in the general area/school and keep my job. So I live there Mon-Thur and Fri-Sunday I stay with my family. I was wondering, being thaf I'm a Junior in high school, am I able to be covered by my parents or grandparent's car insurance? I need some answers. Please & thank you!

Since you live with both your parents and your Grandparents, when you receive your drivers license they have a duty to notify their insurance companies. If you want to insure your own car separately then I suggest you have your parents consult with their insurance company to understand the options
Household insurance information for your parents and Grand Parents:
.An individual, whether related to you or not (such as a roommate), who resides in your household, may be required to be listed on your auto insurance policy depending upon your insurer's underwriting guidelines. In some states, exclusions are available for both family residents and other household members who do not drive your vehicle and, therefore, do not require coverage. The insurance company has the right to ask about all licensed household members since typically state laws allow the insurance company to gather information that effects any costs that may arise from the actions of any household member. Thus, they want to know about all these people so they can properly assess their risk and calculate your rates based on this (as well as other) rating factors.

You would be covered under the ones who are your legal guardians. In otherwords if you are just staying with the grandparents but your parents pay all your bills and upkeep, then they are the legal guardians. Since you live at both addresses, it would not be a problem on whose car insurance you are on since you can provide proof you live at one address or the other. That is what is required when you get car insurance that you show residence at the same address of the person(S) who are the main policyholders.
