I agree with Jenny Quack. Show him "Pony Swag" and also show him the episode with Discord or one of the ones from Season 2. Don't show him episodes one or two.

You know, it is best not to show him a episode first, rather take another approach just to make him like the charters and slowly ease him into the show. I would first show him the video to "pony swag", and trust me, ALL guys like that, then show him the mlp fim abridged episode 1 + 2, then from there you may move on the the actual show. Make sure to use lots of brony music as well.
