Is the national deficit a lie?

In 1984 the S&P index was 1700...it is now 13000..there has been 3 years of no deficit in 25 years..yet 401ks have grown..the richest 1% have gotten richer..how do u have economic growth with a trillions of deficit...is just the oldest con in the world..u know, like how ur employer makes u fear for ur job for increased productivity...or the car salesman always trying to sell a car for the highest price at first then haggling with u for hours
