Ideas for a creation myth?

I have to write a creation myth for english class. It has to be about how something came to be. I'm not very creative so i'm finding this really difficult :\

I just need some ideas to get me started. Thank you :)

    Hi megbreak,

Take anything improbable and have it behave in an implausible way, with impossible consequences and downstream effects. You’ll likely craft something a little satirical and surreal, but that’s absolutely valid, isn’t it?

    For instance:

    “THE HOLY SNEEZE

The Cosmic One-Armed Bandit, as tall as a mountain and as wide as a sea, tumbled slowly through the inky blackness of the interstellar void, when all of a sudden the planet Earth and its Moon hove into view. As if an invisible hand desired to chance its luck, the large handle swung forwards mysteriously, the three gigantic dials began to spin, and one by one they clunked to a halt, each one displaying a double-helix icon, three in a row: JACKPOT!!! Flashing, pinging, and clunking, the Sacred Fruit Machine disgorged thousands upon thousands of cathedral-sized playing tokens.

On striking the Moon, these tokens fell on stony ground, and left only craters on the grey lunar surface. But on striking the fertile Earth, the tokens brought forth all manner of miraculous occurrences – elves and angels, griffins and dragons, goblins and orcs, unicorns and pegasi, hobbits and nymphs, hippogryphs and chimera, gremlins and bankers, all sprang fully formed from the token’s impact craters.

Alas for Earth’s new inhabitants, for the Cosmic One-Armed Bandit was being pursued across the heavens by the Great Sneezing Gambler, who was like unto a truly gargantuan bunged up nose. On nearing the Earth, fragments of lunar ejecta irritated the already sensitive nostrils, and “ah… Ah… AH.. AAAACCCCHHHHOOOOO!!!!1!!” – an asteroid-sized ball of snot was hurled with vast velocity towards what would later become known as the Yucatan peninsula. No sooner had Earth’s latest arrivals established communities, breeding colonies, and bank branches, pacifying the indigenous giant reptiles as necessary, than the cataclysmic explosion of bogie striking planet wiped all trace of them clean off the face of the Earth!

In the Great Dying that followed, the eternal oblivion of extinction also embraced all of the dinosaurs, flying and marine reptiles. But small chunks of snot were ejected high into the atmosphere, spread out around the globe by the jet stream, and fell all across the landmasses. With the sun blotted from the sky by world wide high level clouds of dust, plant life too died back, struggling to survive. As food webs collapsed everywhere, the only winners were small nocturnal mammals, who discovered the nutritious qualities of snot-ash, and maintained their populations until the Earth’s ecosphere recovered by noshing on the nasal effluvia of the Great Sneezing Gambler.

Into the myriad recently vacated ecological niches, these tenacious mammals evolved, until 65 million years later, humankind joined the dazzling diversity of mammalian species inhabiting the Earth. Few are they who now cleave to these sacred truths of the interstellar pursuit of the Cosmic One-Armed Bandit by the Great Sneezing Gambler, but without that Holy Sneeze, we would not be here now to revere the memory of these ancient events, and to wish the Great Sneezing Gambler the very best of luck.”

I could go on, but as UK comic Harry Hill is wont to say, mugging to the TV camera, “You get the idea with THAT, then!”

First, decide what it is your myth is about. Once you know what it is that's being created, you can start to think about why it was the way it was. If it's a living thing, does it have some medical property or was it created as a tribute to someone (this tends to happen frequently in Greek myths)? A world could have been created from the dead (or not so dead) body of a god/goddess, rain could be a god crying over being dumped, or maybe humans were created as a team-building exercise for the god of pigs and the goddess of monkeys.

Look up real myths, to get an idea of what people might have actually believed, and study whatever is being created both at a scientific level and the 'what does it look like' level, to get a feel of where it could have come from.

one idea is that(if youre using deities)they couldve contributed to the creation.

blair-godess of fire who created sun and anything having to do with fire

aquakarino-god who contributed water and anything having to do with water

aero-god of wind who contributed wing and oxygen

    earthicus-godess who contributed earth

    together they all created us
