A non-supported battery?

I have a Boost Samsung Galaxy Prevail,..everything has been ok until today( I go this for Xmas),..anyway, it is now saying that it is unable to charge because of a non-supported battery. What does this mean?

The battery has most likely been damaged. There are many ways to do this: over/under charging, shock (you know, static electricity), impact of some kind, and much more. Try taking the battery out for a few minutes. This should discharge all the capacitors in the unit and completely reset the phone. Then put the battery back in and see if you still have this problem. If the problem persists, then you will need to get a new battery. Go to your nearest Best Buy and they'll help you out.
