    1) LISTEN to the music (several times). Yes, I know - it's a radical idea!

    2) Look at the score.

    3) Study your course notes.

    4) DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK.

I guess I should probably write a nasty DYOH message, but I can't pass this one up.

    >>>>describe the beginning of Beethovens 5th symphony?

The exposition contains two short figures, one in c minor and the other in Eb major, the second derived from the first.

Although many German Baroque concertos, such as the Bach E major and a minor violin concertos, had first movements centering around short motifs, this is the first symphony written in Classical sonata form which was so constructed.

    >>>>what does this beginning motive represent?

There is a story that Beethoven described it as "fate knocking at the door."

I don't know how authentic this story is, though.

Better look it up before you write it down in a term paper.

    >>>>how does it influence the rest of the symphony?

Take a look at the opening figure in the scherzo and see if you recognize the similarity.

This is what is called a "thematic link," and it seems to be Beethoven's invention.

For another example, look at the second theme of the first movement and the beginning of the third movement of the Pathetique Sonata.

For still another example, notice the c# minor arpeggios at the beginning of the first and third movements of the Moonlight Sonata.

The Beginning is a motive is widely known all over the world. I would say it represents the roots of romanticism, the musical era that beethoven is credited for starting. beethoven put soooo much passion and emotions into his music, I believe it is what that motive represents

It influences the symphony by giving it this dark strong fiery theme to it. The motive is often developed and changed throughout the movement and it is recapitulated alot

To sparkling issues up, there are quite a few musical classes in nicely, song. From what I found out in background 4, there is the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Classical, Romantic and cutting-side. Beethoven's Symphony No.5 is obviously a symphonic type (pace affiliation, quickly-sluggish-average DANCE-quickly). the 1st mvmt of a symphony is oftentimes an Allegro, in Sonata-Allegro type, 2d mvmt is Ternary, subject and version, or changed Sonata-Allegro from, the thrird is a Scherzo and Trio for Beethoven, and the final mvmt is is a Sonata-Allegro type or Rondo type. He wrote 9 symphonies, this one became into written in his era of Externalisation. each and every of his symphonies have an extremely effective character interior the final stream. in case you elect greater factor, (e.g. piece descriptions, song, video) only deliver me an digital mail.

The beginning provides for tonal tonal unity between the parallel keys of c minor and c major and a gradual yielding of the minor to the major during the course of the work.
