Did you ever bond over music with one of your parents?

If so, what musicians/songs helped bridge the generational gap?

Update:

Hans, thanks for the answer. All is good. My father recently passed away and in the weeks leading up to his death I went back to a lot of the music we listened to in the car as far back as thirty years ago. I recently read a question from a teenager who was wondering why old people look down on teens for their music. It made me think that my folks never told me to "turn down that racket" at any point in my youth. I wonder if I would be that patient with my son who's five and is fed a steady stream of Lady Gaga by his mom.

yes I have, I think everyone does all the time but the just don't always know it. I would say that the songs my parents and I have bonded over are more sad and emotional stuff, addressing world crisis and big problems or stories in the news, also stuff about growing up, relationships, and family. I recommend Green Day, Arcade Fire, Coldplay etc. it is different for everyone. I hope everything is ok between you and your parents and I hope this helps...good luck :)
