How can I make my dog stop scratching?
My 1 yr old pit bull had a rash and hot spots and is now on treatment but he just wont stop scratching. I put a cone around his neck but he always manage to scratch himself. I put some silver sulfadiazine cream and seems to be helping with the itch. Is there something I can put on him like a spray or cream that will help with the itching?
I was thinking about changing his food. Thanks for the bitter apple advise. Where can I get it? and the hot spots are on his underarms and his crotch.
do you guys mean oatmeal shampoo or like the real oatmeal bath. How do i use the oatmeal on him?

First see a vet. Then look at the ingredients list on the food you feed. Corn? Wheat? That is probably the problem. Gradually switch to a quality food. Look at the ingredients lists. Meat (not meal) of some type should be the first ingredient. There should be no corn, wheat or by-products. Innova, Wellness, Orijen & Merrick are a few of the good brands out there.

You can ask your vet for something or for advice. You can try changing his food to grain free if he has food allergies. Additionally, if this is an itch due to allergies ask your vet if you can offer your dog some Benadryl (your vet will let you know if it's appropriate and what dose).
A cone around his neck will only prevent him from licking hot spots or scratching his ears/face. Where is the rash and hot spots?

There is a product called "Bitter Apple," that is a harmless substance used to discourage dogs and cats from licking or chewing on themselves. You apply it to the area they have been licking, and the bad taste is supposed to curb the behavior.

1) Give him an OATMEAL bath (look it up).
2) Treat him for parasites (fleas & mites/mange) with "Advocate" drops.
3) Change his food to a hypoallergenic dog food.
