Alaska definitely has the loosest gun laws. They are practically non-existant, provided that you haven't broken the law or are a felon or anything. A friend of mine took a trip to Alaska and said that it is just as common to see someone open carrying a gun in Alaska as it is to see a cell phone on someone's hip here in the contiguous states. If you are 21, you don't need a permit to buy or carry a handgun. There are no permits to be issued concerning guns in the state, and you don't have to register any firearms with the state either. Certainly a gun owner's dream state!

I've never heard John Stassel being quoted as a legitimate source on anything. You're a lot more likely to get shot in Texas than you are in Vermont. Memphis, New Orleans and Miami are some of the more violent cities in the country and all are in southern states with relatively "loose" gun laws. However, if you want to attribute that only to gun laws then you'd be kind of an idiot because there's obviously a lot more to it than that.

The loosest gun laws would be Arizona. There gun laws are close to none, as far as I know you can walk around with a holstered weapon. I'm sure you need a permit to do so.

I live in California and the gun laws are very strict. You need a permit for everything, cant have to many attachments to the rifle, ten round mags only, and only semi auto.
