can someone please tell me what an 'honorable contribution' is?
i have just received one and it apparently cost some 10000 points. i have not received any notification that this was going to or had happened or why. i just noticed it when i went into 'my activity' to check on something.

Hello Raels,
Actually we sent you an Email from account y_answrs_team@yahoo.com which explains the reason for the fine.
If you did not receive this in your inbox then please check your "spam" folder in your email and failing this then please send us an email to the above mentioned Email address and we can reply with a copy/paste of the original Email.

It's a bit of a misnomer. YA used to give 'honorable contributions' when one of your deleted answers or questions was restored on appeal. This would usually just result in you earning 10 extra points - this was Yahoo's way of 'apologizing' for the mistake. Ages ago, they even gave 'honorable contributions' to really good users of the site who answered well consistently. Sometimes the points they'd give to users would be in the 300-1000 range.
These days, they give them when they deduct massive amounts of points from your total. Usually, they do this because you got caught cheating (point-gaming with multiple accounts, for example), but there may be other reasons. Why they don't change the name from 'honorable contribution' to something else is a mystery.
Want to find out exactly why? You can try emailing the staff at y_answrs_team_uk@yahoo.co.uk or create a thread on the Suggestion Board (hover over the ABOUT tab at the top of this page). Hopefully, a staff member will fill you in.

Not sure why it's called that but a deduction of 10,000 points is usually made when they catch you cheating by using multiple accounts and voting for yourself. If that's true all your other accounts will be closed. Any attempt to cheat your way back up may result in this account being removed as well.
