My Hand Tamed Cockatiel started Biting me!?

i have 2 cockatiels, both are a year old. One is a male who is excellent in his vocal skills and the other, i'm unaware of it gender.

the male bird keeps running behind the other bird and sings to it, tries to climb on its tail and keeps pestering it.

The other bird doesn't like my male bird and tries to run away from him all the time. for for the whole day, it looks like a cat and mouse game.

but then, the real problem is - both the birds were hand tamed and were very sweet till a week ago, but now all of a sudden, the male bird has become so aggressive and violent that he always tries to bite me whenever i go near him (i've got bitten to an extent where my fingers bleed). he has become so wild and is no more that good old loving bird. but still keeps running behind the other bird.

is he trying to mate with the other bird? is he under harmonal stress that he is trying to bite me all the time? can someone help me out in this??

TIme for the bitches to DIIEEE... na im just kidding.

I say for 2-3 days give them some time apart, then during feeding time set them both in different corners, they will be too busy to try to bug the other one. then they most likely will bond after the first 2-3 days after separating them. Mine did the same.

If you have a male and female it is mating time and sometimes the female does not want to!!

To keep the her tame give her another cage for awhile..keep it next to him

This should start calming her knowing she is safe from the Bully..

You might want to get a DNA test done..you can do this through the mail a lot cheaper than a vet

Your other bird is a female! They are going to try to mate and get aggressive with you now, sorry!

You can separate them, and they will get less attached to the other and get more attached to you. Make sure they have separate sleeping areas, and cages

you need a vet or ask a pet store. you said you recognize the sex of one bird. well does the other bird have it? if its the mating instinct it should pass soon. if all else fails i suggest you have a nice pot roast.
