Should a Knock-On have been called?

In the second half of the Knights v Dragons match, a Knights player was called for a knock-on during a hit-up because the ball came loose. When both players fell to the ground, the ball never touched the ground and was still in possession of the Knight's ball carrier. If the ball carrier never lost possession of the ball, how could a knock-on be called?

Update:

Bill, it definitely did come in contact with the Dragons player as they were belly to belly in the hit-up. Seems a bit unfair though since there wasn't any loss of possession. But that's the way the 'ball bounces'.

In coming loose, if it came in contact with a Dragons player befeor the Knight player regathered, it is a knock on.
