Cell phone question and info.?

What is the cheapest cell phone I can buy for my grandfather that can be programmed with daily and weekly reminders. He is very forgetful and I need to buy him a phone that will remind him of daily medicines, birthdays and such? I asked this question recently and several have told me that any phone with a calendar can remind him. They are wrong! I bought a a Nokia with a calendar and it doesn't allow daily, weekly monthly or yearly updates. I actually need info from people who actually are aware of the capability of various phones not armchair pretenders.
