Am I wrong to feel this way about my bf?

Okay I am due to give birth to my son in 2 weeks. My fiance has a job and goes to school and I am in school (not working). Throughout our whole relationship, we've never went a day without talking and we are like best friends. Every time I stay at his house, 3-4 days a week, we go out to eat or order in. BUT throughout our whole relationship, when I ask for money or for him to buy me anything, he would say yes but would never do it...or there would be an excuse for not being able to do it. Me and my family have paid for our whole baby shower. And I have paid for the things that we didn't get at the baby shower. I just bought the crib, car seat, bath tub, clothes, etc. I am tired of being the only one to spend money on a child that we BOTH made. I asked him to buy the baby's crib bedding set and mattress...which would, in total, cost no more than $300. He said yes and got paid today but then tells me that he has no where to cash his check because his job switched their bank over to a unknown private bank...WTF! That sounds like the utmost biggest LIE! I don't know what to do. I love him but I am tired of being with someone who I feel like I can not rely on. Am I wrong for wanting to just get rid of him and put him on child support? How would you guys handle this?
