Possibly.
They can splinter, and if they do, can cause serious damage.
Not every bone will splinter, and raw bones are less likely to splinter than cooked ones. If you are going to give your dog a cooked soup bone, choose a large, thick one. Always keep an eye on the dog while he is chewing on it, and take the bone away if it splinters.

Dont cook - as others have stated. It removes any nutrient value and you risk splinters and a bowel perforation. Give the dog the bone - and if he hasn't had one before, just take it away half way through and put it in the fridge - give him the remaining half tomorrow. You do this because all that fibre might give him a tummy ache - and its better to introduce a small quantity. I usually feed one bone per day - too many and they get fat. If they are bigger - no worries. The dog will chew away on it. The issue is you dont want to feed small bones that the dog might swallow hole - or sometimes they get stuck on the rear molar. Dont feed chicken or fish bones - cow knuckle bones are best or bones that are at least the size of your fist. I always supervise and keep an eye on them when they are eating - yeah, it can be messy, I put towels down.

Absolutely. Bones should never be given to a dog. If they are beef, they can not only splinter and get caught in the dogs throat, but if they chew one down small enough, they can swallow it and it could lodge in their throats or in their intestines which will require surgery. Emergency surgery. My dog is 14 and I have never given him a bone.
If your dog swallows chicken or turkey bones, they can splinter into very tiny splinters which can not only lodge in their throats but can pierce the stomach and scape the intestines causing internal bleeding.
I know it's tempting to give them steak or soup bones but, it's not worth it. The dog could suffer terribly and end up needing life saving emergency surgery. Without it, the dog could and probably would die.
I hope this helped

Yes, any kind of cooked bone can harm a dog no matter what size. Cooked bones can splinter and get stuck in your dog's throat, stomach, intestines, etc.

Big dogs can crack a big soup bone, but beef bones don't splinter. To give little marrow bones to a big dog can sometimes cause problems, but the bigger one dont generally. If it is the first time just supervise him.
