Why are Americans becoming Americommunisms?

I guess since most people do not know American history they are doomed to repeat the lesson of Jamestown

As Carole E Scott wrote in her book (America's Colonial Period) “Initially, in Virginia and Massachusetts, communist-like systems were installed, however, they were soon abandoned. Single men objected to working to support the families of married men. Married women objected to working to support other women's children. Because the opportunity to own land was a way to attract immigrants, who were hard to attract, the abandonment of communal economic systems probably increased immigration.”

Both colonies were communal in nature during their first few years. Because of lack of productivity among those who could live off the hard work of others. William Bradford, Governor of Plymouth wrote in his journal:

"For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children without [being paid] that was thought injustice.”

Both Plymouth and Jamestown soon turned away from a socialist form of government, dividing land up among residents, each being responsible for their own survival, as well as that of their family. The result was immediate and impressive.

“This [free enterprise] had very good success, for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.” (William Bradford’s Journal).
