My parakeets don't use their cuttlebone?

Do they need it cuz they haven't used it, do they need grit also I took it away since people told me they don't need grit but I heard parakeet need.calcium witch they get from the cuttlebone dat they don't use so tell me if they need it if so tell me how to get them to start using it or another way thanks sorry if I make mistakes on my questions on my phone.

    get one a different shape, colour, flavour... put it in a different location.

    If its been in there too long, it gets hard and they won't use it. Try putting a new one in.
