Palm Oil as a global commodity?

I am trying to research information on the globalization of palm oil. Looking to pick companies that use palm oil and focus on the exploitation of the native workers harvesting the oil and looking at the market shares for these companies (as recent as possible) could you argue that it is a form of cultural imperialism as the exporting of this oil to the west is crucial to their economy. These products from the companies are globally consumed on a daily basis. Do you think that palm oil is a good to look at globalization and deregulation?

I know I have asked lots of questions but please help I'm finding myself a little overwhelmed by the topic and hope for some guidance.. any links or information please share with me.
