Quarantine new snakes?
When you Acquire a new snake, how long so you quarantine for? And do you quarantine different snakes for different amounts of time, like boas for longer than pythons for example,.....or same time regardless of type of snake?
I normally do 3 months for all of my snakes but I'm wondering if I should do longer...

When I quarantine a snake, I usually have him there for 2 months. That way I can check a few of his stools for worms, check for any abnormalities (like IBD for example) and see how easily he is stressed when someone walks by his enclosure. I usually do the same amount of time for all snakes, but if I notice something out of the ordinary, I'll keep it in quarantine for a few more weeks or until I can have it vet checked. Glad to help.
***EDIT***
Three months is OK for quarantining an animal. If you feel a specific one needs longer, then give it longer. A lot of people don't even quarantine their animals. Happy to know that some people actually try to keep their collection safe from disease.

I agree with Chris and Ramonito it is best to at least give it 3 Months of Quarantine to a new reptile, but at the same time i'm glad somebody like you cares as much for their herps and to be free from disease never would of thought that quarantine reptiles is important, but I find that it is. I'll just stick with the 3 months, but if something is wrong with one of your animals then I'd wait longer. btw I'll be posting a question about this so stay informed. I might just need your help. Good Luck!

Hey Rebecca.
Whenever I aquire a new snake, no matter wh at type, they all get 4-5 months before being moved into the same ROOM, or coming in contact with my other snakes. I would say 3 month is fine, while your monitoring proper feeding for that whole 3 months, see how active snake is, clear eyes, actively flickong tounge and is aware of surroundings. Im sure you know about all of that.
Good luck. What snake are yoy planning on getting if your getting one?
