Gases expand when temperature increases. If a gas is sealed in a rigid container, as apposed to a flexible one like a balloon, the increase in temperature causes the pressure exerted by the gas to increase. If pressure increases too much, the container wall can rupture. The likelihood of this occurring is suggested by the warning on aerosol can to "avoid disposing of can in a fire'.

I presume you messed up your phrasing. If you want to keep your gaseous substance, you HAVE to seal it. However, if gas is being produced by a substance in a sealed container, pressure will build up, risking an explosion.
