Definitely try The Shield, The Wire, Battlestar Galactica, Alias and Homicide: Life on the Street. They should be right up your alley.
While they're more lightweight, you might also enjoy Prison Break, Heroes, Haven, Alphas, Leverage and Farscape.

If you have Netflix there is the show lost and I am addicted to it!! Also monk on Netflix too
