Does beating ME2 on insanity effect ME3?

What originally inspired me to beat ME2 on insanity was a loadscreen message that seemed to suggest doing so would have an effect on your ME3 playthrough. Is this true? Is there any measurable reward/effect on gameplay?

Update:

Mathew: that's evidently not true. Its quite clear that a players levels carry over, a small portion of their cash carries over, and the resources they gathered carry over (to an extent) as War Assets. That's a lot more than conversation choices. I'm just wondering if any of these non story-related bonuses are increased by uploading a straight up insanity game. Someone who knows what they're talking about have an answer?

I uploaded a game I beat on Insanity and one I beat on Normal and did not see any difference

only difference I think is that if you play ME3 on insanity you get some achievements.

the only thing that carries on from previous mass effect games are the decisons you made in the dialog through out the story. the decisions youve made will effect the story in me3. beating it on a different difficulty wont change anything.
